Equivalence as a Translation Problem An overview

Abstract: This research paper examines equivalence as a translation problem. Since its introduction into the field of translation, equivalence has generated controversy among scholars. This paper begins by providing a brief historical overview of the notion of equivalence, with a focus on key controversies in the literature. Next, the main types or levels of it are examined, followed by examples to facilitate a deeper understanding. Some strategies for dealing with it as a problem in translation are suggested at the end of this paper.
