Abstract: Madness is the significant theme in The Tragedy of King Lear. The process of going mad is miserable. However, madness makes King Lear comprehend true meaning of human being, society and nature. Lear actually gets true wisdom through madness. This paper tries to find out reasons of Lear’s madness and Lear’s true wisdom got after madness.
