Abstract: Mind mapping is a powerful graphic technique which provides a universal key to unlock the potential of the brain. The Mind Map has been applied to every aspect of life where improved learning and clearer thinking will enhance human performance. This paper outlines the different stages of second language acquisition as described by previous research, and examines the various ways in which mind maps can be used to assist and develop various language skills with the end goal of communicative competence.
