Abstract: With continuous advancement of the informationalisation in modern society, media language is attaching increasing relevance to human life. Among different types of media language, the most prominent is the one used in TV talk show, which in essence is a kind of semiinstitutional discourse, dubbed as a type of discourse mediating between the non-institutional discourse (ordinary daily conversation) and institutional discourse (news interviews). It distinguishes itself with the characteristic of being both formal and casual. This research, based on the Conversation Analysis Theories proposed by Sacks et al., through exploration of the turn-taking system and the adjacency pair system, conducts both macro and micro analysis of the dialogues in Dialogue on CCTV9 in combination of substantial conversation data, demonstrating the usage and function of turn construction, turn allocation, preferred response, interruption and overlap in conversation. Through analysis of the conversation in Dialogue, it is found that institutional language shares many common points with daily conversations, for example, it obeys the basic rules of turn-taking and adjacency pairs but it also owns some unique characteristics such as the institutional setting of the conversation. This research aspires to provide readers with more approaches conducive to the interpretation of discourse construction, and enhance their ability of language interaction in social context. In addition, it also offers reliable data resources for other scholars to carry out deeper and wider research.
