Abstract: This essay attempts at an interdisciplinaryinvestigation into literary translation and postulates that thetranslation activity is a process of signification of the sign systemsof the target culture. I shall attempt to instantiate and discuss thepoetics of translation, which views the translation works asstylistic and holistic texts. Besides, the analysis of interlingualtranslation can serve as a key to comparative poetics and study ofuniversal literature. The distinguished anthology of compilingJapanese waka Ogura Hyakunin Isshu and the Chinesetranslation by Derun Liu can serve as a desirable instance ofanalysis.
