Abstract: the article is devoted to the effectiveness of socioaffective strategies in teaching English language in order to enhance the language competence of students at RUDN University. The issues of using this method both by language teachers and students are raised and the capabilities of socio-affective strategies underestimated by students are considered. The question of changing the role of the teacher from “instructor” to “facilitator”, creating a favorable, friendly “learning space” for learning is being considered. The article illustrates a useful way to develop a conscious approach to learning using this teaching and educational model in teaching English.
