Abstract: The duration of intellectual property rights has increased. Now covering an increasing number of objects, they are also assigned an ever-growing range of functions. This boom in intellectual property rights is so advanced that it currently extends to objects with no creative dimension whatsoever. Intellectual property rights legitimize the rise of informational capitalism, which leads to the appropriation of data that was until recently part of the sphere of common knowledge.
Keywords: Intellectual property – commons – informational capitalism – cultural exception
