Abstract:
This article reviews the law regarding bills of attainder in several Commonwealth countries. In particular, constitutional prohibitions against bills of attainder will be reviewed, followed by a discussion of actual situations where attainders were found or could have been found, in the country's history. Commonwealth and other countries to be compared include the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia and India.
