Abstract:

The effect of K2CO3 on gasification reactivity of biomass char was studied using thermal gravimetric analyses. The results were analyzed by kinetic analysis using unreacted core model, homogenous model and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The CO2 gasification reactivity was improved through the addition of K2CO3 which would decrease initial reaction temperature, final reaction temperature. SEM analysis showed that white spots were observed on the surface of char samples with catalysts. The kinetic parameters of CO2 gasification of char samples indicated that the addition of K2CO3 could decrease activation energy , therefore catalyzed reaction rate. What’s more, unreacted core model is more suitable than homogenous model in analyzing this reaction.
