Abstract:
An experimental set-up is developed at University of Pecs to generate plasma-based waveguides for acceleration of electrons by the Hungarian Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI). The present study presents theoretical results of modeling of a long (~0.5 m) plasma waveguide generated by a non-ablative capillary z-pinch in hydrogen by using the two-fluid, twotemperature and two-dimensional MHD model. It is shown that the waveguide-like gradient refraction index of the capillary zpinch is suitable for guiding of high-intensity laser pulse at the early stages of the z-pinch compression.
