Abstract:

Surface plasmon resonance of Au nanoparticles has been employed to improvement the photo response of ZnO nanorods/ p-Si heterojunction photodetectors (HPDs). It was found that it not only suppresses the visible response but also enhance the ultraviolet (UV) response. Thus the UV (340 nm) to visible (550 nm) rejection ratio is increased from 2x102 for the HPDs without Au-capping layer to 4.2x103 for the Au-capped one. Related mechanism is studied here.
