Abstract:
This paper presents the evolutions of special purpose sampling inspection plans for attributes inspection. Special purpose sampling plans also known as conditional sampling plans were developed to overcome the shortcomings of zero acceptance single sampling plans whenever samples of small sizes only are practically possible for disposition of lots. Zero acceptance single sampling plans results in rejection of a lot even if there is only one nonconforming unit is observed in the sample thereby resulting in a poor Operating Characteristic (OC) curve. This is whenever high quality product is desirable.
