Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) is the most common technique forupgrading biogas. In the PSA processes, Bio-methane (High-purity CH4) isproduced by absorbing CO2 from the biogas, but also tail gas (off-gas) isgenerated by desorpting CO2 from absorbents.
Tail gases are usually burned completely by continuous fueling ofadditional biogas or fossil fuels because tail gases …
• Should Not be dischargedtail gas contains a significant amount of CH4 which has about 21 timeshigher global warning potential than that of CO2 on a weight basis.
• Could Not burn themselves outCH4 concentrations in tail gases are too low. Even if they are enoughhigh, fluctuations in CH4 concentration and pressure disturb stablecombustion.
Our aim of this study is to burn tail gases stably and completely with noadditional fuels in order to exploit renewable energy with high efficiency.
