Abstract: Clams (Batissa violaceae L.) collected from two different sites in the Catubig River in Northern Samar, Philippines, were analyzed and compared regarding the level of lipid peroxidation in the digestive gland during high flow and low flow periods. With the TBARS assay, it was shown that MDA levels in clams from both sites were higher during the low flow period. The results suggest that lipid peroxidation levels can be indicative of pollution which in this study is inherent characteristic of Site 1 especially during the low flow period.
