Abstract: It is well known that arsenic compounds are toxic even in small quantities, but the toxicity of arsenic present in wastewater from different industries represent a priority issue worldwide. Arsenic removal from wastewater by electrocoagulation is presented In this research paper. An efficient treatment method for wastewater cleaning is electrocoagulation with a soluble anode, due to low operating costs correlated with relatively small amount of solid waste production. In this paper are presented the studies regarding the effectiveness of using electrocoagulation with the soluble anode in cleaning arsenic Contaminated wastewater. Electricity required for this process was obtained by converting solar energy using high efficiency photovoltaic panels, coupled with storage accumulators and DC/AC, AC/DC converters. Experimental studies reveal that for wastewaters with initial content of arsenic between 10 – 100 mg L-1 maximum efficiency for arsenic removal can be obtained using the following conditions: initial pH 6 –8, electrocoagulation time 15 – 40 min and current densitybetween 6.1 and 24.4 A m-2.
