Abstract:
Detailed physical examination of 24 dogs with elevated BUN (>30 mg/dl) and serum creatinine level (>1.4 mg/dl) were carried out and related clinical signs with different frequencies were noted. Anorexia was observed as the most common and consistent findings followed by moderate to very severe degree of anaemia, vomiting and pale mucous membrane, progressive weight loss, periodontitis and mild to severe degree of dehydration and depression. Other less common clinical findings observed were halitosis, polyuria and polydipsia, hypothermia, hypertension, lethargy and diarrhoea, dyspnoea, lumbar and abdominal pain and haematemesis and melena. Least common findings were inappetence, fever, constipation comatose condition, uraemic ulcers, stomatitis, oliguria and ascites in CRF suffered dogs irrespective of staging.
