Abstract:
The research was performed to determine anxiety, depression levels and their relationship with some characteristics of women who apply for infertility treatment. Methods: This study was conducted with 140 women who agreed to participate in the study at IVF unit of Hacettepe University. Data was collected by Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and sociodemographic information form with face to face interview technique by researchers. Data were evaluated by using frequency, percentage, ChiSquare Spearman Correlation Test. Results: 33.6 {6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} of the women were graduated from high school and 30.7{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} oftheotherwomenweregraduatedfrombachelordegree.Theage mean of women participating in the study was 30, during of marriage (years) mean was 6.8, during of infertility (years) mean was 5.3. Most of women participating in the research were housewives. Approximately the income of half of the women was medium level. BDI and BAI score mean of the women was respectively 15 and 33.2. Education level, during of marriage (years), during of infertility (years) of the participant women of the study were found associated with BDI score (p<0.05). Furthermore BDI and BAI scores of the women were found associated with each other. Conclusion: It was determined that BDI scores increased as level of education women participating in the study decreased. Additionally, depression level increased along with during of marriage (years) and infertility time (years). Furthermore, there was positive relationship between women with high depression scores and with high scores anxiety. According to these findings, women with low education level should be considered in risk group. Nurseswho work with infertile women should be suggested to develop their psychosocial counseling skills to increase treatment success. This counseling skills must be usedactively infertile health services.
