Abstract:

This study examined how effectively the discharge plan for patients aged over 70 met the needs of their informal caregivers in relation to caregiver strain. The study used a descriptive qualitative design. Results indicated while some areas of caregiver strain were reduced, other areas, particularly emotional strain were often increased. A review of discharge planning practice is recommended.
