Abstract:

Vietnamese Americans are one of the fastest-growing ethnic/racial minority in the United States. However, there is scant knowledge on the issues related to healthcare among Vietnamese Americans. And they face serious barriers to medical care when they receive care. There are three major disparities in healthcare for Vietnamese immigrants in the United States. First is language and communication barriers. Second is cultural barriers that can lead to misunderstanding and underutilization of healthcare services. Besides language and cultural barriers, the serious barrier that Vietnamese immigrants faced is the low socioeconomic status that prevents many Vietnamese immigrants from ability to afford healthcare services. Due to these reasons, Vietnamese Americans are disproportionately affected by many health disparities.
