Abstract:

HIV-Aids is now a global problems that will give negative impact to the health status, socio economical and political situation. In Indonesia, the highest prevalence happen among women or housewives that in turn give impact to their babies’ health status. Stigma and descrimination toward HIV women makes them become secret and do not open their status to the community and family. In another hand it is happen usually in the health institution that the health providers try to enoy and ignore to give services. Those situation make the women with HIV-Aids feel being abused. The health providers should have willing and capabilities to empower the families so that they can give support to the women. This research study have aims to identify the models of empowerment the health provider to support and empower the family in order to prevent the transmission of HIV Aids n the family and support the women with HIV-AIDs. An operational research design and with a qualitative method approach by Focus Group discussion was used in this study. The FGD have been done in the seven provinces with 20 HIV women in each province participated in the FGD and 10-15 health providers in each province participated in another FGD. The result of the need assesment show that the main problems of women with HIV are stigma and discrimination by family, community and health providers. Womens understand very well about HIV AIDs and how to manage it, they try to complay with the treatment , but they still feel difficulties to communicate with the health providers. It was identified also that there were no collaboration among health care providers and non goverment organization in implementation of HIV prevention program. Six modules have been implemented in the workshop of 86 health provider in the five provinces ( East Java, South Sulawesi, Papua, North Sumatra, Jakarta with distribution 16-22 in each province). The result showed that there are a significant improvement of knowledge(p: 0.00), attitudes(0.015) and communication skill increase among health provider toward HIV womens after workshop. Modules were produced and distributed to the stakeholders after scientific recognation in order to contribute to the government for prevention program of HIV-AIDs among housewives
