Abstract:
A cross sectional descriptive study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between health locus of control to health seeking behavior to prevent cervical cancer among females who are attending the Urban Health Center, Guntur, India. A randomized sample (100) was selected and interviewed with multi dimensional health locus of control scale to access health locus of control and investigator prepared health seeking behavior questionnaire and was used. The result revealed that subjects reported significantly powerful others as health locus of control and there is a significant relationship between health locus of control and health seeking behaviors. The descriptive and inferential statistics were used. ANOVA revealed the significant relationship as p is < 0.0001. The women have very poor knowledge and practice to prevent the cervical cancer. The women's health locus of control has an impact on their health seeking behavior. Strong internal locus of control allows individual to take active steps. As a nurse we need to educate, motivate them to take up the responsibility of their own health.
