Abstract:
Objective: To explore the attitudes of inpatients with hand injury towards patients safetyand influencing factors of their attitudes. Method: Totally 311 inpatients with hand injury participated in a questionnaire survey designed to understand their attitudes towards surgical safety. Results: The overall average score of inpatients with hand injury involvement in patient safety attitude was 3.71 ± 0.54, the average score of self-participation attitude was 4.03 ± 0.52, the average score of self-defensive attitude was 3.91 ± 0.68, the average score of self- protective attitude was 3.81 ± 0.84, the average score of awareness is 3.42±0.59, and the average score of initiatively inform and ask medical staffs was 3.39 ± 0.97. The influencing factors of the patient involvement in patient safety attitude were hospital property, education level, hospitalization times, and profession. Conclusions: Hand injury inpatients had a strong willingness to participate in medical treatment process and were very concerned about their own safety, but their levels of self- participation and information acquirement were low. Therefore, based on different characteristics and the specific clinical situation of inpatients, medical staffs should fully communicate with inpatients. They need to provide related medical information related to examination and treatment to improve the attitude of patient involvement.
