Abstract: China is experiencing the rapid urbanization led by government. For the mid-low residents in large and medium-sized cities, on one hand, the soaring price of housing (i.e. to rent or to purchase) forces them far to city center; on the other hand they rely more on public transit than other citizens. How to balance the longer distance of the settlements and the convenience of public transit is an important issue for policy makers. Based on the relating data of over 900 residential quarters in Nanjing, this paper explores the inner relationship between housing prices of mid-low residential quarters and the transport convenience, as well as the quantitative model between the two. The paper also summarizes a distribution pattern of residential quarters for midlow income people in Nanjing, attempting to provide policy makers with a more simple and visual quantitative information.
